ADCA POLLED DEXTER HISTORY
In 1993 semen from a polled Dexter bull was imported to the United States and Canada. In June 1994 the ADCA Board of Directors felt obligated to accept the registration per ADCA rules and regulations and historical acceptance of imports of the animal from the UK. The first offspring registered (four cows and three bulls) were born in April & May of 1994.
As of 12/06/07, there were 2708 animals listed in the ADCA registry that can trace ancestry to Saltaire Platinum.
Frederick D. Chesterley was listed as owner and he offered the sale of the semen in the US. The first ad for semen was in the 1996 March/April Bulletin Volume 36 No.2 offered by Carol Davidson. Eventually the U.S, semen went to ALBC and they advise they sold their entire inventory
Currently Polled animals registered with the ADCA have Registration Certificates with the word "Polled" listed on the Certificate.
Before the software update polled animals carried the "P" extension following their registration number on the Certificate of Registraton and in the Herd Book.
The ON-Line Pedigree program lists and sorts the Polled catagory.
Today all polled animals must have at least one polled parent for registration. DNA tested proof of parentage may be requested if there is question.
